Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet Rich Plasma has been used for a number of years in various areas of medicine to promote wound or tissue healing. PRP is increasingly being used in cosmetic injectables. PRP is able to be used in areas that are generally hard to treat with other cosmetic injectables such as ageing hands, necks, décolletage and under eye area. It is also effective in improving overall skin texture and appearance as well as acne scarring. It is also ideal for skin tightening.
A very natural approach to anti-aging as your own blood products are injected.
Platelets are injected into one’s tissue (including skin) which then release growth factors that promote healing and stimulate regeneration of these tissues.
PRP uses your own cells to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin and is also useful for other facial rejuvenation procedures such as dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections.
Blood is collected and spun in a centrifuge in order to concentrate the platelets.
The platelet rich plasma is then injected into the treatment area.
Two to three treatments are typically advised spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Results can be seen 2 to 3 weeks after the first treatment.
